Winter Solstice and the great Jupiter-Saturn conjunction 2020

December 21st, 2020: Welcome to a new cycle!

Such a conjunction only happens every 20 years, the last conjunction of the two in an air sign (Aquarius is an air sign), however, happened 800 years ago! We are entering a new age that will last for at least the next 20 years until 2040. Our focus changes from earth to air, from structure, order and hierarchy to communication, humanity and cooperation.

The winter solstice takes place on December 21st. On this day the sun reaches its lowest point in the northern hemisphere and we celebrate the return of light on the shortest day of the year. From now on the days are getting longer again.

This year something very rare and important happens on that very day. Saturn and Jupiter are in an exact conjunction in the sign of Aquarius, the sign they both just entered.

As already described, Saturn rules restriction, responsibility and structure. Jupiter, on the other hand, wants to break out and dash off. He wants us to broaden our horizons, learn and discover.

In Aquarius, Jupiter wants to storm off immediately through the energy of change and upheaval and tear everything old from its hinges. Saturn, on the other hand, wants to preserve the old and scatters fear of everything new and unknown.

With these two planets in conjunction, we have the opportunity to implement change in values towards more freedom, fairness and equality in such a way that we proceed in a responsible and structured manner. That we calmly check what can be renewed and what might still work and should remain in our existing system. In connection with Saturn, our high-flying plans and visions (Jupiter), have the chance to become really future-proof and stable.

As always, it is about the right balance: between courage and caution, between new and old, between masculine and feminine, between reality and virtuality.

We should free ourselves and be open to change, to stand up for more justice, without throwing everything old overboard without any second thought. Because new doesn't always mean better.

The sign Aquarius not only stands for freedom and equality, but above all for modernity and technology. So we will step into a new age here too and we are already noticing how we as humanity are split between analog and digital. Here, too, it is important that we find a balance.

On a personal level, we should go back to the analogue world and connect with people in real life, seek contact with nature or read books.

In a social context, this means that we should pay attention to the limits and disadvantages of technologies and not leave anyone behind because they may not be up to date with the latest digital developments.

This is particularly noticeable due to Corona. Small businesses that are not built upon digitalism are the ones that are left behind. Those are the downsides of this energy: focus on science and technology regardless of the consequences for the individual.

we need to be more open to people and their way of life without ruthlessly trying to enforce our own ideas.

As always, it is about the right balance: between courage and caution, between new and old, between masculine and feminine, between reality and virtuality.
